Apprentice’s Compensation

The apprentice’s compensation is calculated as a percentage of the minimum wage, according to the age and the program of the student.
The apprentice receives compensation depending on age, the compensation increases annually at the renewal date of the contract. The minimum wage received by the apprentice is a percentage of the minimum wage.


The minimum wage for a contract of 35 hours per weeks (Sources : Article D. 6222-26 du Code du travail) :

  • From 18 to 20 years – 49% of the SMIC (L3 or M2)
  • From 21 years and over – 61% of the SMIC (L3 or M2)


Conventional or contractual arrangements may provide for a more favourable compensation for the employee. For successive contracts, compensation is at least the legal minimum of the last year of the previous contract.
